Israel soldier gets 45 days in prison for the murder of two Palestinian women

An Israeli soldier charged with killing two women in Gaza during the 2008-2009 Operation Cast Lead will serve 45 days in prison, following a plea bargain with the military judicial system. According to the Israeli newspaper Maariv, the plea bargain will be finalized on Sunday morning. The soldier was accused of killing two women who were standing amongst a group of Palestinians in Gaza City, some of whom were holding white flags. The Goldstone Commission documented these killings in its report. The Israeli army spokesperson said that given the “great discrepencies” between the testimonies of the Israeli soldiers and the Palestinian eyewitnesses, it was not possible to charge the soldier with criminal acts .... http://inagist.com
