British mountaineer Peter Kinloch


A British explorer collapsed and died just 200metres from the top of Everest after achieving a lifelong ambition to scale the mountain.

Peter Kinloch, 28, had just reached the summit of the world's tallest mountain and was beginning his descent when he suddenly lost his sight.
Fellow climbers attempted to help him down but after several hours they had only descended around 250 metres.

After several more hours of trying to lead the stricken climber down last Wednesday, a team of rescuers had to abandon him.
