Still in winter’s grip: Icy roads and cancelled Eurostar cause travel hell as man fights for life after being hit by falling telegraph pole



Drivers tonight faced 'treacherous' conditions as melting snow turned to ice at the end of a day that saw chaotic scenes on the roads and railways.

Heavy snow was so bad that it left some motorists stranded for up to 14 hours and led to the cancellation of all Eurostar services.

The brunt of the bad weather hit Sussex and Kent as a thick band of snow hit France and Belgium.

Elsewhere there were strong winds across large parts of the UK creating hazardous conditions. In Wandsworth, south west London, a 27-year-old man was left with serious head injuries after a telegraph pole was blown down .... http://www.dailymail.co.uk
