The Alps has been hit by a big storm as the temperature dropped and the weather came down from the Arctic. 70cm has fallen in parts of Austria. Winter is coming and it certainly looks rather good. Cross country skiers are already out.
It looks like mid-winter with snow falling in some parts of the Alps and down to 1,000m.
Some resorts are covered in snow.
SW Austria has had the most with Tirol drenched in powder in places.
The glacier resorts are claiming huge amounts.
Pitztal has stated on its website that 64cm of fresh snow has fallen on the glacier and Stubai claims 70cm. Hintertux has a more modest 40cm .... http://www.planetski.eu
