The Vallejo Police Department is apologizing after an 11-year-old boy was held at gunpoint and handcuffed by officers in a case in mistaken identity.
Romie Mims, a 6th grader, said he was walking to school Thursday morning when he saw a car with its windows shattered on the street. He tried to notify the homeowner by knocking on the door.
“I was trying to do a good deed,” Mims said.
The boy had no idea the homeowner inside was calling police. Several minutes later, Mims was surrounded on the sidewalk in front of the home by officers with their guns drawn. Mims said they yelled at him to put his hands up .... http://www.ktvu.com
