NATO Compelled To Treat Russia As Enemy

NATO's deputy chief Alexander Vershbow made the remark to a group of reporters. He said the alliance is considering new measures to deter Russia from any aggression against NATO members along its borders. 

Vershbow said the Western military alliance can deploy more forces to Eastern Europe in order to stop Russia from invading the region. Tensions between Russia and the West heightened after Ukraine's former Black Sea peninsula of Crimea joined the Russian Federation following a referendum on March 16.
