French foreign minister's son in custody for forgery, fraud

The son of French Foreign MinisterLaurent Fabius was taken into custody on Tuesday as part of a probe into forgery, fraud and money laundering, police sources said.

A preliminary investigation into Thomas Fabius's financial affairs was opened inFrance in 2013, with police particularly interested in his purchase of a seven million euro (US $7.6 million) Parisapartment. A police source said the apartment, which was searched Tuesday, had raised alarms over money laundering.
