Cameron Urged To Block Turkey's Bid To Join EU

David Cameron is being urged by his leading backbench critic David Davis to block Turkey's bid to join the European Union and visa-free travel for Turks.

Mr Davis has written to the Prime Minister, calling on him to withdraw support for Turkey's accession into the EU when he attends a summit in Brussels later this week.

He also wants Mr Cameron to make representations against proposals for visa free travel, under the so-called Schengen Agreement, to 77 million Turkish people.

Mr Davis's plea came after the Turkish Prime Minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, said the aim of a €6bn (£4.7bn) agreement with the EU on refugees was to reduce illegal migration and make passage to Europe safe .... http://news.sky.com
