Did Blair Stop MPs Hearing Legal Case Against Iraq War? Former PM Denies He Suppressed Advice


Tony Blair was yesterday forced to deny new claims that he had suppressed legal advice which could have persuaded the Cabinet not to have sanctioned the Iraq War.

Opponents of the controversial invasion seized on a section of Alastair Campbell’s diaries that said the former Prime Minister had blocked the Labour government’s most senior lawyer from explaining the legality of the war to ministers.

In an entry for March 11, 2003, Mr Blair’s former spin doctor said that Attorney General Lord Goldsmith wanted to ‘put the reality’ to Cabinet ministers that there was a case against, as well as a case for, the military action .... http://www.dailymail.co.uk
