UN to Keep Observers in Syria
The head of the UN mission in Syria, Major General Robert Mood briefed the UN Security Council in New York on Tuesday, saying the UN monitors were "morally obliged" to stay in the country “even though the violence has halted their operations,” AFP reported.
Mood suspended the UN operations on June 16, arguing that the unrest posed a threat to his observers after some of them were targeted and prevented from implementing their mandate to oversee the UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan's six-point ceasefire plan .... http://www.presstv.ir
