US President Obama calls for extending Bush-era tax cuts


US President Barack Obama has urged Congress to pass a one-year extension of the George W. Bush-era tax cuts for people earning less than USD 250,000 per year.

Obama on Monday pointed out to the need to reduce the federal debt and invest it items such as education and infrastructure.

"Everybody agrees we've got to do something about these deficits and these debts," - Obama said at the White House. 

He added that extended tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans are "least likely to promote growth."

Middle class taxpayers face higher tax bills of up to USD 2,200 if all the Bush tax cuts expire at the end of the year, Obama said .... http://www.presstv.ir
