4 planes make emergency landings at Indianapolis airport

Airport spokesman Carlo Bertolini said two of the emergency landings involved commercial airliners, one was a military plane and the last was a private Leer jet.

The first landing involved was a regional carrier of a United Airlines flight from Newark to Indianapolis, which landed about 8:30 a.m., after the 50-seat aircraft indicated a possible problem with the “auxiliary power unit.”

Bertolini said he didn’t know how many passengers were aboard the craft, which taxied to a gate without a problem.

Between 11:30 a.m. and noon, a military aircraft with only the pilot aboard made an emergency landing after taking off from Camp Attebury en route to Fort Wayne .... http://www.indystar.com
