Spain has been harder hit by the brain drain effect than many other countries in Western Europe as thousands of professionals, including nurses and teachers, have left the country in recent years, official data show.
According to the European Union’s statistics agency, Eurostat, only 6,558 foreign workers applied to work in regulated fields including education, medicine, nursing and law in Spain from 2003 to 2014.
