Scout Association facing more than 50 sex abuse claims since Jimmy Savile

The Scout Association has apologised to victims of sexual abuse as it admitted paying out around half a million pounds in compensation to abuse victims since the Jimmy Savile scandal.

More than 50 people have sued the Scouts for compensation over historical sexual abuse since October 2012, it has been reported.

Nearly £1 million has already been paid out to victims by the association and individual scoutmasters, according to the BBC. A spokesman said the Scout Association was “deeply sorry” about the abuse .... http://www.telegraph.co.uk
