Winter is coming: Migrants face plummeting temperatures as snow sweeps across Europe amid fears refugees could freeze to death

Migrants crossing Europe are facing worsening conditions today after temperatures plummeted during the first snow falls of winter.

Growing numbers of refugees are camping out in the open with many lighting fires in a bid to keep their children warm as temperatures plunge below zero across the continent.

Thousands have been left stranded at borders as they attempt to make their way through the Balkans to France and Germany.

The heads of 11 EU countries from central and eastern Europe met in Brussels for an emergency summit towards the end of October.

At the meeting Mr Juncker warned: 'Every day counts. Otherwise we will soon see families in cold rivers in the Balkans perish miserably.' .... http://www.dailymail.co.uk
