Staff at the corporation's capital headquarters were briefly evacuated after a 'suspicious vehicle' was seen nearby but the Metropolitan Police said the alert was now over.
A spokesman for the force said the threat was not specific to the BBC, adding that a vehicle parked on nearby Regent's Street had now been deemed 'non-suspicious'.
In a separate incident, police sniffer dogs were brought in following reports that a 'suspicious package' had been found at a building close to London Bridge station.
Both security scares saw thousands of people evacuated from office buildings in close proximity to the suspicious items.
At the BBC, staff at the scene posted pictures of police cordons around Broadcasting House in Portland Place, a short walk from Oxford Circus.
