Henry Kissinger calls on EU not to treat Britain 'as a prison escapee'

American diplomat Henry Kissinger has urged the European Union to treat Britain as a 'potential compatriot' rather than a 'prison escapee' as relationships continue to sour following the Brexit.

Mr Kissinger, 93, who was the US Secretary of State between 1973 and 1977 and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in attempting to secure a ceasefire of the Vietnam war, waded into the on-going Brexit row in an opinion piece written for the Wall Street Journal.
