New Zealand Prime Minister John Key, who has led the country since 2008, said he is stepping down

New Zealand Prime Minister John Key said he was standing down after eight years.

The ruling center-right National Party will meet next week to select a replacement leader, Mr. Key told reporters.

“I am not a career politician. I came to do a job,” he said. “A good leader knows when it is time to go.”
