UK Police Drew Tasers on 400 Children in 2013

Police have drawn tasers on over 400 children in England and Wales in 2013, according to figures released Tuesday.

The youngest child to have a taser aimed at them was 11 years old, according to government data obtained by the BBC through a Freedom of Information request. The government's numbers show a 38 percent increase in the drawing of tasers on children between 2012 and 2013.

The mother of an 8-year-old Native American girl is suing police who maintain that they were justified in using a taser on the child. The family lives in Pierre, South Dakota and belong to the Rosebud Sioux community.

Four police officers decided that this young girl who had a small paring knife was “a danger to herself,” requiring them to taser her.

Alaska State Troopers are investigating allegations that a Village Public Safety Officer (VPSO) used a stun gun or Taser on two young boys after they asked the officer to do so.

The mother of one of the boys, Terry Ward, said the incident occurred last December when a group of about eight or 10 children were getting ready to play a game of kickball outside the Boys and Girls Club in Kake, Alaska, local media reported.

The video shows two police officers from Springfield in Illinois, pinning a young male suspect on the ground. As he writhes beneath them, one of the officers deploys and uses it on the suspect at point blank range. The crackle of the electricity from the weapon can be heard.

Taser Tots: Indiana Police Taser Ten Year Old Boy At Day Care

Now we have a case where two Indiana police officers tasered a 10-year-old, 94-pound boy at the Tender Teddies Day Care in Martinsville.

The officers from the Martinsville Police Department responded to a report of an unruly child at a home day care location. Such calls are not uncommon, particularly with so many children with emotional or developmental problems. However, after the police arrived, they introduced tasers at Tender Teddies Day Care as witnesses watched in horror.

Man put on trial after police broke into his home without a warrant, tased family

A couple was violently tased and arrested when police officers broke down their front door in response to a noise complaint. Despite the shocking video that captured the incident, the police were cleared for assaulting the couple and breaking into the home, and instead the residents were put on trial.

California resident Gary Hesterberg was running the trails with his two dogs at Rancho Corral de Tierra in San Mateo County last year when he was stopped by a park ranger for not leashing his terrier (his other dog, a beagle, was on a leash). 

He reportedly tried to put the leash on the dog when he saw her coming, but apparently that wasn’t enough.

When the ranger, Sarah Cavallaro, would not let Hesterberg walk away after a verbal warning, he accused her of unlawful detainment and attempted to leave anyway.

A Florida police officer, 267-pound Trooper Daniel Cole, was recently cleared of any wrongdoing by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. 

Questions were raised when he tasered a 20 year old handcuffed girl in the back as she fled. The tasering was caught on video showing officer Cole firing the taser at the handcuffed Danielle Maudsley.
