Allen, 58, said he will build the world's largest ever plane to carry the space rocket to 30,000ft before it is released and a booster takes it into orbit.
His new company Stratolaunch will start with unmanned space vehicles which will be used to transport government and commercial cargo and satellites, and later move on to carrying out human missions.
