One of the three ships searching the depths of the Indian Ocean for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 will end its mission Thursday, authorities said.
The Fugro Discovery will leave the remote search zone ahead of the anticipated suspension of efforts to locate the wreckage of the missing Boeing 777.
The Joint Agency Co-ordination Centre (JACC) said in an operational update Wednesday that the contracted vessel will "transit to Singapore to be readied for its next project, unrelated to the search for MH370." .... http://www.nbcnews.com

Vladimir Putin ordered Russian special forces to steal MH370 and secretly landed it at huge space port in Kazakhstan, claims expert
Jeff Wise, a U.S. science writer who spearheaded CNN’s coverage of the Boeing 777-200E, has based his outlandish theory on pings that the plane gave off for seven hours after it went missing, that were recorded by British telecommunications company Inmarsat.
Wise believes that hijackers ‘spoofed’ the plane’s navigation data to make it seem like it went in another direction, but flew it to the Baikonur Cosmodrome, which is leased from Kazakhstan by Russia .... http://www.dailymail.co.uk

MH370 shot down by US, says former airline CEO
The former director of French airline Proteus has suggested that a US military jet shot down Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 over the Indian Ocean to prevent it being used to attack an airbase on Diego Garcia.
Marc Dugain also said that he had been warned off delving too deeply into the fate of flight MH370 by a British intelligence officer who told him that he was taking "risks", according to France Inter.
The Independent reports that Dugain had travelled to the Maldives and interviewed witnesses "who reportedly told him they had seen a 'huge plane flying at a really low altitude' towards the island bearing the Malaysia Airlines colours"
According to the official account of MH370's final hours, the missing plane probably did make a sharp left turn to fly west towards the American base on the British territory of Diego Garcia soon after it lost radio contact with air traffic controllers .... http://www.theweek.co.uk

Hackers stole secret MH370-related documents from Malaysian officials – report
A targeted phishing attack on a handful of Malaysian officials involved in investigating the disappearance of flight MH370 in March reportedly gave the perpetrators, presumably of Chinese origin, access to a trove of classified material.
The successful hacking attack affected some 30 computers belonging to officials in the Malaysia Airlines, the Civil Aviation Department and the National Security Council, Malaysian newspaper the Star reported on Wednesday.
Before Malaysian cyber security experts found and closed the breach a trove of documents, including classified ones, were funneled to an IP address located in China. FLIGHTS BRIEFLY VANISH FROM AUSTRIAN AIR TRAFFIC
VIENNA (AP) — Key flight data from high-flying aircraft mysteriously disappeared twice recently from controllers' radar screens in Austria and some of its neighbors and the relevant EU agencies have been asked to investigate, Austria's flight safety organization said Thursday.
Marcus Pohanka of Austro Control described the incidents on June 5 and Tuesday as unprecedented. He said the height, location, identities and other information for a total of 13 aircraft suddenly vanished over Austria— both times for about 25 minutes.
Pohanka said Thursday that several neighboring countries had similar incidents and the EU's Eurocontrol and European Aviation Safety Agency has been asked for a probe. He did not identify the other nations. But the daily Kurier said flight controllers in Munich and Karlsruhe in Germany, and in Prague, the Czech republic also reported related problems .... http://bigstory.ap.org
