On Thursday, Pope Francis will meet in Rome with the Presidential Council of the Venezuelan Bishops’ Conference (CEV). At the private audience, the Venezuelan bishops will inform the Pope “in detail” about the ongoing crisis. It’s not the first time Pope Francis meets with Venezuelan church leaders to discuss the crisis, but it is the first time the Vatican officially publicizes such an audience, and the first time that the whole CEV Presidential Council will meet with the Pope to openly talk about the current debacle.
The Vatican has been criticized for its lenient approach to the government, as seen in the dialogue it brokered in 2016, which was widely considered as a time-wasting tactic by the government. Pope's envoy warns of bloodshed if Venezuela talks fail
Venezuela is going through a "very ugly" situation and there could be bloodshed ahead if talks between the government and opposition fail, a papal envoy told an Argentine newspaper after his visit to Venezuela this week.
Archbishop Claudio Maria Celli had been in Caracas for Vatican-convened talks as an angry opposition stepped up its protests against socialist President Nicolas Maduro after authorities scuttled a recall referendum.

Pope says journalism based on fear-mongering, gossip is form of 'terrorism'
VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Journalism based on gossip or rumors is a form of "terrorism" and media that stereotype entire populations or foment fear of migrants are acting destructively, Pope Francis said on Thursday.

Pope Francis has slammed “influential countries” for their “ideological colonization” of societies worldwide, particularly through teaching children they are free to choose their gender, something that the Catholic Church sees as a sin against nature and god.

Spanish bishop tells monks & priests to get ‘anti-pedophile certificate’
A Spanish bishop in the city of Lleida has told all parish staff, including priests and monks, to get a special “anti-pedophile certificate” to prove they have never committed a sexual crime.

Pope: 'Arab invasion of Europe is a reality, it will make Europe stronger'
The influx of migrants from Syria is an “Arab invasion,” Pope Francis said, before adding that it will make Europe stronger.
The pontiff was speaking to a group of French Christians Thursday when he said that Europe has seen many invasions over the course of history.
“How many invasions has Europe experienced in the course of its history? It has always been able to overcome them; moving forward and finding itself better through the exchange between cultures,” he said.

Vatican finance chief Cardinal George Pell said Thursday it was a "disastrous coincidence" that five paedophile priests preyed on children in the Australian town where he was based, as survivors accused him of lying.
Pell gave evidence for a fourth and final day to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in Sydney via videolink from Rome and came under intense questioning from lawyers representing victims of abuse by the clergy.
He has consistently denied any wrongdoing during his time in the town of Ballarat and the city of Melbourne in the state of Victoria, where he grew up and worked, in the 1970s and 80s when paedophile priests abused dozens of children.

Pope Francis Sees Putin as 'Only Man' to Defend Christians Around the World
The upcoming meeting between Pope Francis and Russian Patriarch Kirill will not only be a historic religious event, but could also have major benefits to Christians around the world, the French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche reported.
In an attempt to defend Christians in the Middle East and other parts of the world where they're being persecuted, Pope Francis wants to ask Russian President Vladimir Putin for help.

Church child abuse scandals 'tip of iceberg' say real-life stars of Oscar-tipped film
Paris (AFP) - The child abuse scandals plaguing the Catholic Church are only the tip of the iceberg, the journalists who exposed one of the hierarchy's biggest cover-ups said Wednesday.
Walter Robinson and Mike Rezendes, who won the Pulitzer Prize for uncovering how the Church had hushed up the activities of nearly 90 paedophile priests in Boston, told AFP that thousands more have escaped justice in the United States alone.
With the Hollywood film "Spotlight" about their painstaking probe of the scandal for the Boston Globe newspaper nominated for six Oscars and a slew of other prizes, they said research showed between six and 10 percent of priests have abused children.
Robinson, who led the newspaper's Spotlight investigative team, said they found that around one in 10 priests in Boston were molesters after "the Church was forced to make its records public.

According to the latest document leaked in the Vatileaks scandal, Vatican-owned properties near the Italian parliament and Piazza Barberini are being used as saunas and “massage parlours” where priests go to pay for sex.
For some people, that might actually be considered a shocking claim.
Hints of this were exposed two years ago, as The Independent reports:

Trump disputes pope on climate change
Republican White House hopeful Donald Trump said Thursday he thinks Pope Francis is wrong on climate change.
"I'm not a believer in climate change," he said.
"I think that clean air is a pressing problem. You want to have clean air, you want to have clean water. That's very important to me, and I've won many environmental awards," Trump said.
But he said climate change and what people are referring to as extreme weather -- "that's the new one because weather tends to be a little more extreme" -- is a natural phenomenon.

Burning Churches Is Legitimate Under Jewish Law

It is an established fact that Yiddish was the lingua franca of the International Brigade that was formed following a tidal wave of Church burning by the Republicans. That act of barbarism didn’t seem to deter the salt of the Jewish Left who rushed to liberate Spain in the name of the ‘International’.
